Pets Party

With Christmas being so close my posts are admittedly getting shorter. Amelia’s nanny’s and uncles and friends and other family have been busy shopping.

Rob and I have tried not to buy too much for her but there were a few items I couldn’t resist.

Two of these are from the lovely Cath Kidston ‘pets party’ range. Anyone who knows me knows that I adore guineapigs. I have two of my own called beep and nibble (@beep_and_nibble on instagram if you want to see pictures) so when I found a range of guinea pig decorated items I knew Amelia had to have some of them.

I restrained myself admirably and bought her the lunch plate which is really good as it is divided into sections and a lunch bag which is insulated so if you put an ice block in it the food stays cool.

(I say restrained because there are a number of items in the pets party range and I really wanted to buy them all. Anyone else feel compelled to buy entire sets?)

Christmas Visitors

Nearly all of my friends are at university. I am too but unlike most of the girls I went to school with I chose to study from home. I go to university in Canterbury so can commute instead of moving. This is a decision I made months before I found out I was pregnant but it’s so fortunate I did. Studying miles away from my boyfriend whilst carrying his baby wouldn’t have been ideal.

One of my closest friends, Mollie, is studying at Bournemouth. She is in her third year as she didn’t take a year out like I did. We saw Mollie today and she came bearing Christmas presents. She got Amelia the most gorgeous fluffy dressing gown and pyjamas with a little teddy bear. (There were bits for me too but any excuse to talk about baby clothes and I am going to take it.)

They are so soft and will look adorable on Amelia. I can’t wait to snuggle her up in them. Amelia adores her auntie Mollie and happily posed for photos with her.

Posting every day throughout December is proving challenging. Anyone else running out of ideas to write about?

Amelia’s Daddy is 26

It’s Titchyprincess’s daddy’s birthday today. In previous years I’ve gone for pretty big presents (a trip to Poland, a day at Harry Potter studio tour) but this year we went for smaller, cuter presents. As this is the first of his birthdays that we have spent together in our own home we put up banners and balloons and Amelia helped me bake a cake yesterday. I know, it is not perfect but it tastes nice and is covered in chocolate and butter cream so rob isn’t complaining.

Amelia’s present to her daddy was this cushion. The case is a personalised one from studio and the cushion itself I found in dunelm mill – what good is a cushion without a middle?

One of the sillier presents I bought Rob:

Monster socks from primark

Monster socks! They are from Primark and Amelia is mesmerised by them thanks to all the bright colours. I never seem to get out as many socks as I put in the washing so I’m sure I will loose at least one of these socks in the near future. But they are fun while they last.

Amelia’s daddy really loves hot chocolate so I made him up a box of different instant hot chocolates (this translates to me going in Sainsbury’s and filling a basket with a dozen different sachets). Rob has already tried the wispa gold hot chocolate and Amelia is fascinated with the box I wrapped them all in.

There always has to be a joke present! I found this man apron at littlewoods . The funniest part of it is that rob will probably use it to avoid getting his clothes wet when he does the washing up.

We’ve spent the morning having breakfast – sausages and eggy bread – and watching the snow!!! out the window. It’s been a very relaxed morning and Rob liked all his presents. Yes he had more than the ones I’ve mentioned, but trying to take multiple photos with Amelia grabbing at everything is impossible.

It’s the first of December tomorrow and the birthday banners will be replaced with tinsel and baubles. I can’t wait.

5 Must Haves for Babies First Christmas

Yes, I know it’s only October. But October is nearly over and Christmas is less than two months away. Instead of the usual gift guide I have put together a list of categories to give you ideas if you are stuck for gift buying. My Amelia will be 7 months old at Christmas. My partner and I have already agreed that we are not going to spend a lot as she won’t really understand and will be spoilt rotten by her uncles, grandparents and all our friends. Below are five things Amelia will have. All of them are priced under £20 and are perfect for little ones.

1) A Keepsake
We found this gorgeous ‘my first Christmas’ bauble in Clinton Cards. It is similar to a snow globe and has space for a photo. It’s really pretty and is a perfect reminder of Amelia’s first Christmas to hang on our tree every year.

2) A Bed Time Story
I’m a firm believer in a bed time routine. Once Amelia starts getting sleepy we bath her and give her her bedtime bottle. Our perfect story book is Find My Name in the Alphabet Train by Dr Niamh. It’s so well designed, colourful and is personalised with your little ones name. The character inside is also designed based on eye colour, hair colour and skin tone so your little one can actually find themself in the book . In the back you can choose a message to have written. It’s also something to keep in a memory box once your little one has out grown it. It’s available here.

3) Something to Play With
Amelia has plenty of toys but as she gets bigger and is learning she needs more stimulating things. I found these wonderful wooden puzzle sets on studio, they come in a wooden box which is personalised with your little ones name.

4) Something Warm and Cosy
For this category I picked a lovely soft pink dressing gown. Again this is personalised with her name and from studio. I think the personalisation on the gifts makes the presents extra special as they are for Amelia only.

5) Something to Eat
I haven’t bought this one yet but it is going to be a small selection box. One of the wonderful things about Christmas is the chance to eat a lot of yummy things that aren’t as readily available the rest of the year.
