Babies Diary

When I was contacted about ‘diaryzapp’ the app I was excited. I am always on Instagram and Twitter and love sharing things about Amelia. I hadn’t heard of this app before but when I started reading about it I couldn’t wait to download it. It’s aimed at little ones and their families, meaning it’s very colourful and easy to use. The app was designed by a family for other family’s , largely thanks to an idea their son Noah came up with.

Diaryzapp is a kind of online diary. You can write, draw and include pictures on each page. When the pages are complete you can share them with your buddies. These are people you invite via email who can then view what your little ones have been up to. It is all password protected so very safe and this prevents strangers from being able to look at the diary. Our first invite was to my mum. Amelia’s nanny loves seeing what she’s been up to.

When you open the app you get to design a cartoon monster type character, one of the ‘zappicons’ and give them a name. You can choose from a variety of body parts, picking the arms, the eyes, the torso shape and a number of other add ons. You can also change the colour of each body part you add. Below is an image of Amelia’s zappicon. ( please excuse the quality of the image, it was taken on my phone from the iPad screen so is not of the best quality, but wanted to include an image of Amelia’s character)

Obviously I did this for Amelia – although she did touch the screen enough to draw a picture, read scribble – but if your children are older they could do this themselves with your help. You can have up to five different ‘zappers’ so if you have more than one child they can all take a turn. The character sits at the bottom of the screen and helps you through the app with little speech bubbles containing instructions and tips. After a number of days you unlock a new feature, the first one we unlocked was a photo icon.

We have been using the app for nearly two weeks now and I am delighted with it. It’s so easy to use and brightly coloured. At only £1.99 it’s very affordable too. (For apple users it is available from the App Store and android users can find it in their store too)

My only complaint is that I wish I had had it sooner! As Amelia gets bigger she will be able to use it herself and I am so excited to see what she will add to her diary. The app is linked with photobox so it is really easy to have the diary printed or turned into a variety of other photo products. The mugs and photo cushions would make wonderful gifts for relatives and friends, nanny’s, grandads, aunties and uncles. Definitely worth considering as Christmas gifts. If you are stuck for ideas for baby’s first Christmas, have a look at my post here.

Overall I was very impressed with this app. Online safety is something we need to be increasingly aware of and diaryzapp is one way in which we can know our children are safe online, thanks to the passwords and buddy systems.

Bloggers Who Care

There is a lovely blogger named Amy that I encountered on twitter (@blogsbyamy_). Amy is a fashion and beauty blogger and if you’d like to read her blog you can find it here. She has recently put together self care packages and I received mine yesterday morning.

The package was so cute, arriving in a pink postal bag with a yellow label. Inside there was a note addressed to me and a little list of the items inside.

There were three beautiful quotes printed on photo paper which I can’t wait to frame; 2 wax melts (I don’t have a wax burner at the moment but this gives me the perfect excuse to purchase one); a teabag to take a little break and have a relaxing drink; a pack of love heart sweets and a garnier face mask.

The items are so thoughtful, everything you need for a little pamper evening. I can’t wait to have a sit down with a lovely cup of tea, the gorgeous smell of the wax melts and a face mask on. The wax melts were bubble wrapped to ensure they reached me whole and the business card she included had the most gorgeous pink glitter back. All in all a lovely service and a wonderful product.

Fit For a Mermaid

I love subscription services! They feel like a little present arriving every month. My favourite has been the glossybox. This month each subscriber received either a ‘mermaid’ themed box or a ‘unicorn’ themed box. I was sent the mermaid box and it is undeniably beautiful. The packaging was a perfect fit for the mermaid theme.

It contained multiple products and samples all though the eye shadow pallet is in my opinion the prettiest. Glossybox have a section on their website that includes tips and advice on how to use the products in their boxes so even if you aren’t familiar with the items you can find help!

As well as the revlon eye shadow palette, there was a sleek creme to powder blush and a lord and berry eyebrow pencil. There were other products too, though they were not brands I regularly use. I intend to test them out, maybe I’ll be converted!

Not only are they a nice monthly treat, glossybox also have a gift service if you are stuck for present ideas. You can collect ‘glossydots’ which are like loyalty card schemes in supermarkets. 1000 dots means a free glossybox! If you haven’t previously heard of the glossybox subscription then I would definitely recommend having a look on the website here.

Child’s Farm

I am alwas looking for new products to try for my baby girl. Kit and Kin nappies were a wonderful find, thanks to another mummy blogger.

Child’s Farm is a lovely brand that makes products that are natural but still properly tested which are particularly good for sensitive skin.

I’ve seen the products in boots a few times and thought I should give them a try. We change Amelia’s nappies ever hour or so meaning we use a lot of baby wipes.

Some natural products don’t smell very nice but these Child’s Farm fragrance free wipes didn’t have that all natural outdoorsy type smell. They were really soft and gentle and definitely had Amelia approval!

Child’s Farm kindly sent me these wipes to review but if you’d like to purchase any they are available from their website here.
